My grand entry into the babywearing world was 5 and a half years ago when I gave birth to my daughter. She was my first baby, but my fourth pregnancy after 3 losses. I knew early on that I’d always need to keep her close, as I had waited so long for her.
Our first carriers were a bjorn, moby and a ring sling. I eventually splurged and bought a Babyhawk Mei Tai when my daughter was 3 months old. As we moved along in our babywearing journey, we made our own ring slings. It wasn’t until I became pregnant with my second child who was born in the summer of 2010 that I found the babywearing community and woven wraps. And I’ve been hooked every since!
In January of 2013, I was cruising one of the babywearing chat groups on Facebook and stumbled upon Micah’s Rainbow. I immediately fell in love with the colors. I thought it was the perfect wrap for my newest little boy that was born in November 2012 and after reading Jennifer’s story, I really wanted to make her something from this wrap more than anything (hoping she’ll have them next week!). I think aside from the esthetics of the wrap design and color, I was most struck by Jennifer’s strength. I raise two children with Autism and can relate to the struggles of being given a diagnosis and working through the stages of grief while also caring for other family members. Its hard and I am constantly reminded of how lucky I am to be able to hold them every day. I admire that she and her family could rise up in such a trying time to strategize how Micah’s life would be celebrated and remembered. He’s everywhere now. Micah went global and is felt and thought about by people that have never met him, but will always hold a special place in our hearts and wrap stashes.
Thank you to the Canvasser family for sharing a piece of their lives with the world. Their strength, love, unity and positivity is admirable and powerful.

Micah’s Rainbow
Today I Celebrate Life!
Today is the day that we have set aside to say goodbye to one of the most amazing little men I have ever met.
Micah Canvasser – an angel who brought love and endless inspiration that will last my whole lifetime.
This beautiful photo was edited by on of Mom’s dear friends to remove the lines and tubes from Micah’s beautiful face.
You can catch up with my relationship with this client in these previous posts:

Micah and his Twin Brother Zachary, his Parents Jennifer and Noah, and all of their close family surrounding them, have been using babywearing to multiply in front of my eyes the joy that they experience with each other in the unique situation that they are living through.
In order to wrap this family, Mom, Dad, Twin, Grandmas, Grandpas, Aunts, Uncles and Cousins in Love and Support We have designed an Exclusive girasol together that we have named Micah’s Rainbow and will be offered to the world soon through preorder at elephantearsonline.com.
The preorder will be announced shortly, and the wraps are projected by girasol to arrive to us in June/July.
Proceeds from Micah’s Rainbow will be donated to “Micha’s Smiles” a fund set up in Micah’s name to contribute to the University of Michigan Mott Hospital, where Micah lived most of his life.
Here is the Image of Micah’s Rainbow.
The colors are a tribute to the hospital where he lived most of his life, and the rainbow at the top represents the joy that every little life that we love brings to us, no matter how long we have the pleasure of their company.
Oh, Micah.
It was Just too short a time for me. I am looking forward to your Life Celebration Today. I know it will be beautiful, just like you. We have all been asked to wear Rainbows and Bright colors for the occasion. I promise to be happy knowing you are at peace. Even though I cannot help feeling sad inside.
My heart goes out this moment and every moment to all who have lost a child. It is Our hope, The Canvasser Family and the Morse Family – That this wrap can comfort all who have lost, in some small way.
